The show highlights the act of casting as a starting point in observing the constant figure of Diodato's conceptual and sculptural work that is found in some aspects and in changed forms in Kretschmann's site-specific work and in the painting by Stamkopoulos.

Artistic perspectives on the potentials of an aimless and dysfunctional urban development. On an area of approx. 5000 square metres, a spatial intervention is being created with the collaboration of 11 artists. The Heiligengeistfeld“ is a large public space in the centre of the Hamburg district of St. Pauli. Three times a year the DOM, the largest Northern German fun fair, takes place there. In between, the area is used for various events from the entertainment sector, but is often transformed into a large construction site to clear explosive ordnance from the Second World War. This results in a unique field of tension between a recreational area with an overabundance of colourful, fast-moving attractions of light entertainment and a working situation in which large heaps of earth and ditches, which are separated from the public but are clearly visible, are created because the past is questioned with diggers and construction machinery. Despite these contrasts, both conditions of the large square illustrate "heaps of time and boredom, abundance and waste" (quote from „Ort des Gegen“, Annette Wehrmann), which we want to address and elaborate. What happens when common processes and planning are being stopped or interrupted. How can improvisation and process gain importance under these circumstances? We are interested to discover some of the potentials of an aimless and dysfunctional urban development.

Konzeption: Frank Fehrenbach, Lutz Hengst, Frederike Middelhoff, Cornelia Zumbusch
